5. Some perfect candidate who believes in Universal Health Care, public financing of elections, and environmental protections with TEETH.
As for what would make it all work: public financing of elections. Then special interests (those I like and those I don't like) could lobby baed on VOTES they provide (not dollars) and the same would be true of corporations (who might turn out a dozen votes but can drop 50,000 grip toward ads that DO convince voters).
With that change, I think you can get real progress on health care, environmental issues, and energy policy. Just my thoughts.

the thing i never quite got my head wrapped around with public financing of elections is how do you decide who gets the money? like if i want to run for president, can i have $1 million to run pro-dan ads?
what would really make it work would be an informed public that wouldn't buy B.S. on cable news or dumb campaign commercials paid for by said money. but i'm not holding my breath for that one.
i love al gore too, but if he runs, god i hope he learned a thing or two about campaigning in the last eight years.
