I've been playing Cities:Skylines too! I have some annoyances. 1: you can't abate ground pollution except by eliminating industry altogether--no such thing as pollution abatement schemes! I want to play advanced cities! 2. agriculture presented as non-polluting--living in an agricultural area I know that even organic agriculture has its issues! I want to be balancing those! Those are my top ones, and I won't burden you with the others.
I've read that the higher level industry buildings are supposed to produce less polution, but I get what you mean. Personally I don't mind having a district covered in smog that is all work and no play. :D
Although of course there are loads of mods and it's really easy to implement them through the steam workshop. I'm sure there are enough clean industry buildings to satisfy you, I have yet to look through that particular category. If all else fails you could use the asset editor to tweak the stats to your liking. Maybe combine the lowered ground polution with higher noise level or water consumption to keep it balanced. :)
