I think it's perfectly fine for a writer/author to love one of their own characters. It's not every day someone can look back on a character they created and really like them. But there is a line there too. You can love your character(s) with a heat so intense that it would make the volcano's of Io jealous, but I think the moment you become fanatically frothed at the character, you cross from just Creator, to Fan. That's not to say one cannot be a fan of his or her characters, but to me there's a limit before fanatics set it
