Cyclonus = Free Range Rude?

Apr 23, 2005 07:35

I must admit to both surprise and disappointment. I had heard that Cyclonus was an honorable Decepticon... and his counterpart in my own universe helped me out of a difficult situation once, so I had reason to believe the stories of his nature were true.

No one honorable would attack Waspinator. Not only that, but it appears the bug was unarmed at ( Read more... )

Y'know... I'd be the last person to defend what Cyc did, but I don't think it was because he was a coward or a bully. He just has... a lot of personal pride, and being mocked, and not taken seriously... he's just not used to that kind of thing. He's a lot like Galvatron that way - you saw the royal tantrum he threw when he saw what the Sages were saying about him. He doesn't realize that getting teased doesn't necessarily mean a lack of respect or that people hold him in contempt.

Hopefully, hanging around LJ a little will get him to open his eyes a bit more, if you'll excuse the organic expression. And I'm not going to say anything against a suitable revenge, provided no one gets hurt. Just... afterwards, I hope all of you can agree to let bygones be bygones.

*bows* Sorry to intrude. *retreats*

Ah, but Waspinator wasn't the one teasing him. In fact, from what I have heard of the matter, I doubt Waspinator even comprehended the situation... until Cyclonus began to berate him for things over which Waspinator has no control.

That's absolutely true, and like I said, I'm not excusing what Cyclonus did! It's just... um, a little perspective, I guess you could say.

There are two kinds of individuals in this universe, Rampage. Warriors and cannon fodder. The former, I am willing to treat with. The latter are... well, exactly what the name suggests.

I was standing where he could see me and I gave him time to speak in his own defence. I even had my guns sufficiently powered down that your vermin friend was not vaporised on the spot. What more do you want?

Perhaps some sign of intelligence, or is that too much to ask.

There is more to Waspinator than you understand, Cyclonus. To begin with, he cannot help his problem remembering names... and it is not entirely a database glitch. The information is stored, but he can't access it... or large portions of his own memory. He talks the way he does in order to prevent forgetting his own name. It's asking far too much to expect that he remember yours.

As for him choosing another nickname for you... he can't really remember those either. That is why most of them are based on beastmodes. For example, he refers to me as 'Crab-bot'. He only has to look at me or remember what I look like in order to recall such a nickname. Even if he were to come up with something else to call you, he would forget it. And your helmet is an easily noticible aspect of your design.

And he has these glitches because of things that were done to him by the Maximal Council, long before the events of the 'Beast Wars'. For you to blame him for the Council's actions... I ( ... )

So he can't be repaired or scrapped? Bizarre... not to mention a singularly unpleasant fate.

*frowns*

I assume you have tried to get him repaired, of course?

The damage affects his core datatrax. The Maximal Council tried to forcibly reprogram him into a... more obediant Predacon than he once was.

That they apparently failed in their main goal says something for Waspinator's strength of will, despite his inane glitches.

I lack the medical knowlege to even attempt to make repairs, and given the sections of affected datatrax, even someone who knew what they were doing would run great risk of creating far worse glitches in the attempts to fix the ones already present.

Therefore, yes, the damage to his datatrax is likely irreparable... or so close that it may as well be so.

[Editor's note: for the record, Cyc was bluffing when he pointed the gun at Waspy in the first place. He was targeting the one person he knew he could easily break but not accidentally kill-for-real, precisely because he wanted everyone else to remember that they weren't deathproof (rather than particularly because it was Waspy who'd started the nickname thing). If Waspy hadn't called his bluff in so many words he'd never have pulled that trigger. You really shouldn't say "go ahead - shoot me!" to a Decepticon.

But since you'll never get Cyc to admit as much IC, I'm doin' it for him. *facepalm/wry grin*]

((Waspy'd had many reminders only recently of the tampering that caused his glitches in the first place... Cyclonus's words were just the last drop of water that made the dam break. So when Waspy's temper snapper (and he does have one, he IS a Pred after all), 'Bunny-bot' was the target))

((Oh yeah... and Waspy never recognised it as a bluff... he can be dense about some things. So for him it wasn't calling Cyke's bluff so much as wanting Cyke to get it over with since he thought Cyke was out to hurt him anyway))
