Is TANF the same as WIC?

No, TANF is temporary assistance for needy families...a cash assistance program.

WIC is a food program that helps low income families with assistance with healthy food items, formula, baby cereal, and baby food.

Would you be able to apply for WIC, to cover formula and food expenses, that way you can save $?
As far as Medicaid is concerned, do you not qualifiy for other types of medical insurance, being pre natal?
Even AFTER the baby comes, there has to be a program geared to making sure at least the baby has insurance! right?

I have WIC already....
From what I've managed to gather, the baby will have insurance automatically since he'll be born on medicaid. Medicaid covers the baby automatically for the first year. I'm not worried about my medicaid until after I have the baby...which is when supposedly they'll tie Jason into my case.

Cloth diapering can be pricey to start up, but saves a lot of money in the long run. http://www.stretcher.com/stories/03/03jul07f.cfm Some good money savings tips here on wipes and diapers. Have you decided on formula or breastmilk also? Formula has some convenience factor, but breastfeeding will save you money on bottles and formula :) *fingers crossed for your benefits though!*

I can't breastfeed. I couldn't with DS either. Thankfully WIC is something I qualify for with or without living with Jason.

I can't. The lease is in his name...not mine....plus they do actually do home inspections here on occasion.

We signed a document already, but my caseworker said that regardless the baby would tie Jason onto my case and they would require me to use his income as well even though I have NO control over his money or what he does with it. Even now I pay for all my shit, he pays for all his...and we share in costs with the baby.

I wish I had some advice to give, but things in Canada obviously differ quite a bit. Mind you, they still have ridiculous, out of date standards, and I can't imagine hoe hard it is for people to survive based on their income guidelines. My only suggestion being, is there no extra special allowance for food based on the fact that you have to be on a special diet? I know that here, the government assistance programs will give extra allowances for things like allergies, etc.
