Peter came back after Angela had left. He'd picked up Italian food and pastries so he and Sam could celebrate their first official dinner in Peter's apartment in style.

He hadn't known about Angela's visit, so he didn't expect anything unusual when he got back. "Hey. Everything safe?"

"Ditto," Peter said. "You know, in case you were wondering. I'm sorry about that, Sam. Whatever her intentions, she shouldn't have done it."

Sam shook his head at Peter. "If you didn't know about it, then you don't have to be sorry."

"I can still not like that it happened," Peter pointed out.

[psychic_wonder]

"I don't like that it happened either," Sam said. "I really want your mother to like me."

[repeterpetrelli]

"Me too," Peter said. "In the meanwhile can I make it up to you by pointing out that I like you?"

That got a smile out of Sam. "That's very reassuring. I figured if you really wanted to be done with me, you'd tell me yourself."

"I would," Peter said. "Except for the part where I wouldn't because I'm not ever going to be done with you."

"I was hoping that would be how you'd feel," Sam said, smiling more.

"It's very much how I feel," Peter told him. He went to give Sam a tight hug to help prove it.

Sam hugged Peter back just as tightly. "Thank you," he said quietly. "I needed that."

[repeterpetrelli]

"I love you," Peter said, giving Sam a kiss. "The only reason I'm letting you go at all is because I know how much you like school."

"And if I don't graduate, I can't come here," Sam said, before kissing Peter back.

[repeterpetrelli]

"You could," Peter teased. "Just not with a diploma."

[psychic_wonder]

"The diploma part is important," Sam insisted. "Very very important."

[repeterpetrelli]

"Not for being with me," Peter said. "Being my boyfriend doesn't come with a written exam."
