We must be about the same age! The Reagan years were my intro to politics as well, and I recall being rather rabid in my support in the elementary class debates for RR. I must have been bitten by the same bug as you, because I remained interested in politics thereafter - majored in political science and even taught civics for several years. I always wanted to work in DC too - I suppose that's every politico's dream, isn't it - it's like the holy grail! Didn't work out for me either though, but I have found a happy niche at the state level - watching the sausage get made continues to fascinate me to this day.

I think it's neat that you were that focused for that long. It's nice that it's endured and even more so that you're pleased with the path your life has taken, even if it's not where you thought you'd be.
