Cleaning Out Your PSP7 Registry

The following information was providedby a JASC Technician...

This should be done frequently--especially if you're having problems with the software. (Keep in mind that JASC is very candid about the fact that v7 has some bugs...)

IMPORTANT NOTE: This takes your software back to a 'brand new' stage (without the ( Read more... )

When I do this I just get sent to the PSP properties window. Is there something I need to enable before I can get to cleaning out the registry?

...rather than clicking (double-clicking) to open the software, try right-clicking then selecting Open.

I had the properties window open, too, in re-trying it. I assume that 'timing is everything' with making this work. LOL.

But by using Open it worked perfectly!

Hmm. I still can't get it to work, but I'll keep trying. Thanks!

It Might Be- charliemc February 25 2004, 13:02:27 UTC
...that you don't need to do it, currently!

I've been rarely using PSP7 recently (usually I use v8), so if I try to do it when I haven't got any 'build up' in the registry, it won't work!

Otherwise, I can't figure out why it won't work for you...

(Wish I had that JASC tech here! LOL.)

Sorry I'm not more help!

...but I warned that would happen, basically. (I didn't specifically mention custom colors, but I said it returns to a like-new state!)

Sorry.

Still, if it avoids problems in the long run, I feel it's worth it!

what psp icon? the one on the desktop?

LOL. Sorry, Holly! charliemc March 10 2004, 15:04:46 UTC
I just assume, I guess, that most people access the software from a shortcut icon on their computer desktop! (Shame on me.) That's how this was described to me, however, by the tech, so I guess I'm not the only one...

Anyway! If you enter the program by going to Start and Programs, then you'll need to go to Jasc Software and then highlight and right-click (not click) on Paint Shop Pro 7. That brings up a window. Slide to 'Send to' and click Desktop (create shortcut). That will place the above-mentioned 'icon' on your desktop...

Hope that helps!
