Ok, I started a little PSoH fanfic. this is just the first chapter. I know it's going to look like a Leon/Oc, but I promise that it'll be Leon/D. Cross my heart.

Story: Untitled
Pairing: Leon/D (eventually)
Style: Chapters

Angel Lee Darkstar, Lady of the Aternums, felt like throwing the box of fine china across the apartment. She hated her life at times. Nothing but hunting down the worst criminal known to man, never getting to take a break. How many times did she end her assignments by washing the blood from her body? How many tears had she shed over the graves of those she could not save? How long had it been since she had taken a break?

She could feel her age creeping up on her. Five hundred thousend years was a long time to hunt one monster. Across time and space, she had stayed on his trail, always one step behind. She had only been Home long enough to rejuvinate before fleeing back to Earth. She barely saw any of her own family unless she was recovering in the hospital or sitting with them in briefings. She only saw her children when she visited their graves.

She had just gotten back Home, her body aching from her last encounter with the monster. She had longed for a moment's peace. Surely she was not the only person that could hunt this demon? She was the youngest of her people, one of many warriors. They should have sent someone else to take care of matters for a while. She would have gladly have handed the assignment over to her twin brother or any of the men under her command.

It has to be you, Angel. Only you can coax him out of hiding before he kills again.

Percy's words echoed in her mind, fueling her anger. Sure! Send her. Was she not born to be a sacrifice? That was all that she did. She sacrificed herself so that others might live. Her blood, her skin, her pain for theirs.

He's hunting two brothers. A Leon and Chris Orcott. Find them, protect them, stop him. Find out why he's after these two men.

Easier said then done. She was in LA, land of a million people. She was expected to find two of them, with only their names as reference. What was she supposed to do? Ask every stranger on the street their name?

“God, I hate this!” She pounded her hands on the wall. She felt like crying, the years of hunting taking their toll. She wanted to kill the demon so she could finally settle down and have a real life. Hot tears burned beneath her eyelids, making her feel helpless and female.

She slumped down, her long black hair falling like a heavy curtain around her body. She had to get that cut, but never bothered.

A knock at the door interrupted her thoughts. She slowly stood, noticing she had already dented her new wall. There went her security deposit.

Opening the door, she was shocked to see a rather handsome blond man standing there. His hair was pulled back in a scruffy ponytail. His blue eyes reflected curiosity and worry as he gazed down at her. His shirt and jeans had seen better days, and she was positive that none of his clothes had ever had to fear the washing machine.

But, oh, how his clothes clung so well to his body. Muscular in just the right way. She could see a few scars peeking out from beneath his collar. This was a man who knew how to fight. Not the kind of man who would be cannon fodder.

“Hey, are you all right? It sounded like something heavy fell,” the man said. His voice was slightly rough and slow, the kind that made her think of the beach and surfing - but with a much higher IQ. Suddenly, Angel was well aware of how long it had been since she had enjoyed the companionship of someone not trying to kill her.

She licked her lips and cleared her throat. “I, uh, I tripped and hit the wall pretty hard. Sorry to have disturbed you.”

“Do you need any help?” The man looked past her for a moment at the boxes stacked in the apartment. “I can help with the heavy lifting if you want.”

If I want? Sweet blood of the Aternums, I want!

“I'd like that,” she managed. Standing aside, she watched as the finest example of manhood walked into her apartment. Oh, she could handle this assignment. A little companionship while she found and protected two humans.

Was it getting hotter in the apartment? Ohhh, damn, he had one fine ass.

“Oh, uh, my name is Angel Darkstar,” she said, holding out her hand.

The man smiled and shook her hand. Calloused fingers, a bit rough - the hand of a working man. It was a strong, sure grip, which told Angel a lot about him.

“My name is Leon Orcott. I live next to you.”

Leon Orcott? Oh, my!

“I'm pleased to meet you, Mr. Orcott,” Angel purred.

Leon blushed slightly. “Call me Leon.”

“If you insist, Leon.”

Leon helped her move her furniture around and unpack. He told her all about his job as a cop. She knew that he was trying to impress her, and it was working. Any man who got himself out of such life or death situations was worthy of her time.

“So, what do you do?” Leon asked, shoving the couch into place.

Angel looked up from the kitchen area where she was putting away her dishes. “Me? Well, I, uh. . .”

It took her a minute to remember what Percy had told her in the briefing. She hadn't paid him much attention, more concerned with batting at the IV attached to her arm at that time. What had he said? Oh!

“I'm a special needs teacher. I teach Sign Language,” she said. “I'm going to be starting at the High School.”

Leon gave her a slightly funny look, as if he was thinking hard on something. “Um, mind if I ask you a favour?”

“What is it?”

“My kid brother, Chris, he's. . .” Leon started. Angel's ears perked up. At last, she was starting to get to meat of her assignment. She had met Leon, and now she was going to learn about Chris. She had to know how to keep them close to her so she could protect them.

“You have a brother? You didn't mention him before,” Angel said. “You said 'kid brother'. How old is he?”

“He's six, going on seven,” Leon said. “He hasn't spoken in a while. It's not a big deal for me, I seem to be able to understand what he wants. But, he's having problems in school because he won't talk. Can you teach him some Sign Language?”

Angel smiled. “I'd love to.”

This made Leon relax. Angel wondered if he had expected her to deny his request. That would have been ridiculous for her, even if Chris wasn't part of her mission. She loved children, fought for them. Someday, she wanted to have a child of her own that wasn't destined to die before its first birthday.

“I have to go pick Chris up,” Leon said. “When can you start?”

“Monday, after school. Does your brother come straight home or does he stay someplace while you work?”

Leon said, “He stays in Chinatown. At Count D's petshop.”

“How unusual. Is the owner a good friend?”

“He's, uh, he's not really a friend. I mean, I don't think. . .” Leon tried to figure out how to explain this Count D. Angel knew that Leon must trust him on some level to leave his brother there.

“If Chris is more comfortable with this Count D, then I can teach him there. I'm sure I can find this petshop,” Angel said. “Besides, I was thinking of getting a dog. I tend to get lonely at times. Some companionship would be nice.”

Leon smiled and left. Angel stood there for a few minutes before she was certain he was long gone. Walking over to her window, she watched him drive away.

Picking up her phone, she made sure it was working before dialing. After a few rings, a soft feminime voice answered.

“Hey, it's Angel. Tell Percy I need what ever files we have on a Count D. And, if you've found anything on the Orcott brothers, send them along as well. Something's up.”

Let me know what you think.
