Hope I'm not too late submitting this! I've been working a lot lately, so I hope this is enough.

Title: He had been
Author: Sith
Word Count: Never sure. :P I'm thinking it's gotta be at least 100
Rating: PG-13, for some slight mentions of blood and dying and stuff
Pairings: D/Leon, as always

Notes: I kinda rushed this because the idea was a hit-and-run type.  But if I could have gotten more time,  I'm sure it would've been better.

He was perfect, in every sense and form, a purebreed to envy.

He was so imperfect, so clumsily put together; he was a stray!

He was awe-inspiring, beautiful and sly.

He was so common, so pig-headed and stubborn!

More importantly, he was invulnerable, the very trait his ancestors smiled upon.

Unlike the other, who so easily let his emotions get the better of him!

He was perfect, just the way he was expected to be...wasn't he?

D wasn't so sure of that anymore as he gazed down to the dying detective, who, for some unnamed reason, still fought to keep breath in his slowly failing body. The more he gasped, the further his resolve cracked.

It shattered completely when he felt the stray tear fall to mingle with the crimson water below.
