Wow, I watch a lot of TV. This doesn't include all the shows my husband watches that I end up viewing with him. Also, I'm not fannishly active for all of these. First, the TV that's currently airing:
Keep in mind that Sherlock says he's a sociopath. Not everything Sherlock says (or believes) is true. :) But yes, Season 2 will break your heart clarify a few things.
Fringe...is a little uneven, and some of the eps are gorier than others, but I think you'll like it if you can stick it out.
What I want someone to explain to me is why I can't quit House.
Interesting, I hadn't actually considered that he might just think he's a sociopath. But is he mistaken? I'm hardly an expert, but he does seem to show signs of being one. I must think on this.
If it doesn't get worse than the first disc than I can manage, and it would help if it eased off the gore every so often.
House, lol. I couldn't tell you, as I was never hooked by it. I watched for a season and it was really interesting, and I see it occasionally still. I'm not sure why it didn't catch me. But, I have something that's relevant to your interests. Enjoy :)
Compare Sherlock with Moriarty -- the latter exhibits a number of the signs of sociopathy including understanding other people's emotions and getting intense pleasure out of manipulating them. Sherlock...not so much, on either count. But...I'll wait until you've seen S2. :)
I have totes seen that video. Even recommended it to shinychimera and I almost never share vids. :) (Fortysomething is amusing enough if you like comedies and is on Netflix).
Fringe...I forget. Have you seen the guy who can control electricity yet? I don't think anything is worse than either what happens to his boss or than the first ep. And it does eventually stop being Weird Event of the Week and start having mythology episodes.
I told shinychimera that I really, really didn't understand my House thing. Because -- realistically -- the show kind of pissed me off around season six or so. And yet...I can't bring myself to stop watching. So it's probably a good thing the show will be cancelled at the end of this season. Though I really do want the series to end either with House's "death

Have just finished A Scandal in Belgravia and I'm absolutely thrilled with it. All of it. I see what you mean about Sherlock not getting pleasure out of manipulating people's emotions. He was totally thoughtless with Molly Hooper, but once he realized he was humiliating her he stopped, apologized, and at least attempted to make amends by kissing her cheek. So he's absolutely without tact, but not maliciously so... And Moriarty does enjoy toying with people. He did so with John in the beginning, and he did so in this episode when discussing what to tell Sherlock. And there's the whole conversation about compassion where Sherlock wonders, and Mycroft dismisses it. What if Sherlock was so influenced by Moriarty that he thinks he's a sociopath, but actually isn't? Hmm. I still need to see the next two to make a better assessment. And probably look up some info on sociopaths

I didn't want to butt in on your other comment thread there so I thought I'd make a separate comment in regards to Sherlock. Just remember what he says as this gets constantly overlooked. "I'm not a psychopath, I'm a high functioning sociopath, do your research

Hey bb, I am SO SORRY It's taken me so long to reply to you. Life, gah, no excuse really. Anyway, I was just so filled with emotions about the show and I couldn't sort them out, and I just didn't know what to say. So I didn't say anything. My feels, they got the best of me. Actually, I even had a hard time reading fic because it all seemed OOC since I couldn't even figure out his character in the first place. Now most fic still seems OOC (though it can be fun), but I've gotten less worked up about it.
I really agreed with your Irene post. I haven't read the books, but what you said there meshed with how I came out of the episode thinking of her/them. I think she was fascinating to watch in the episode. I can not WAIT for the show to return and blow me out of the water again.
I stopped watching Torchwood due to The Vampire Diaries taking over everything, but I do plan to pick it up again some time. I can't stay away from feels.
White Collar: I've just recently gotten into it and yeah, so much fun! It's a nice light-hearted fandom to come back to after the dark stuff. I don't think they really can allow the trust issues to be resolved, because they need it for character tension. The cases-of-the-week are fun but they need something outside that to keep it interesting.
Farscape: it took me a while to get into too. It grows on you.
Torchwood: weird mix of campy and dark. I love the first season even when it's bad because it's like fanfic itself: dark, funny, overly sexy, and everyone sleeps with everyone at some point for no apparent reason.

White Collar, yeah, it is so fun. You're right, they will never resolve the trust issues. I think they walk a fine line: keeping enough tension to keep interest, while still making everything fun and light enough for the casual viewer. It lets the fic reader cover a really wide spectrum of feelings, thus making it a very versatile show. I enjoy that.
Farscape: yeah, I can see how it would grow on you. If I didn't have so many other pressing fandoms I think I'd have gotten much farther along with it.
