BAAAAH, so perfect! I really am loving this little re-write. Itachi deserves as much limelight as possible. And Naruto! Such a wise little thing, and Sasuke he’s the most adorable thing in Konoha. I shed a few tears at the part between he and Itachi at the end. >w< I really cannot wait to see how Naruto and Sasuke’s relationship unfolds, with Itachi’s watchful eyes.

Thank you for commenting! I'm glad you're liking the story so far.

The number of chapters for this story is still under discussion between my beta reader and I, but at the moment I'm estimating 16 to 20. There will definitely be more SasuNaru moments to come, especially after they graduate from the Academy and have been on a few missions.

You strike just the right balance between cute and overly fluffy and serious (with the ninja talk between Sarutobi and Danzou, and Naruto's awareness of his surroundings). I like the humour in this, with Itachi doting on the two. I don't quite understand the bit about the shadows - did Itachi ask for Madara? Why didn't the coup happen in the Uchiha compound itself, like it did in canon? - but I'm sure that will be explained in time. :)

The whole scene with the shadows that Naruto saw from his window is one of the major elements that makes this setting AU to the canon setting. In the canon story, the entire clan was killed before an actual uprising could occur; here, for reasons that will be explained in later chapters, Itachi was told to take action only after the Uchiha clan was in open rebellion. Because of that, he could stay in the village rather than leaving as a criminal. I've decided that he wouldn't need Madara's assistance for something that was much more like a battle than the case in canon, where he needed to kill everyone without a single person escaping the compound or noticing that it had happened.
