I'm not sure. My thoughts are that carbon offsetting may be effective to an extent, but the pressing priority should be to restructure our lives so that there's less need to use planes. That includes not just our personal use, but also, for example, taking it into account when choosing what food to buy (based on whether it is likely to have been imported by plane).
