Good grief... VAV is so competely integrated in my own Scrabble vocab now that I'd quite forgotten it was only introduced in the very last major update. I suspect I'd struggle quite badly in an OSW4 game these days.

*UD has a star, but for some reason UDS is fine (probably with a completely different meaning). I've never attempted to understand that - just one of those odd things you have to know.

Not only does AE not pluralise, you can't put any single letter after it. SAE, on the other hand, is one of several valid ways to extend it in the other direction.

I'm used to OSW4, which is why I bought that version. Do you think an upgrade is in order?

I'd certainly recommend it - is what's been in use by tournament players since about 2002 (and that seems unlikely to change any time soon, with Collins still making a complete hash of things having taken over the licence).

The difference between that one and OSW4 is the absorption of the American list as it stood at the time - it's usable for OSW4 play as well, as all the words that *aren't* in OSW4 are marked, but you'll probably find that it's impossible to live with having words removed from the board that could have been acceptable!
