I tried that URL you listed in the EDIT, and noticed it was, in fact, fairly slow. I also tried it in IE, which I keep around for troubleshooting like this, and got the same result. I suspect, therefore, that it's an LJ thing.

Erm, that URL isn't LJ, and it was meant to show that others has the same problem as me. c.c
