I'm surprised Larson's lawyers haven't pulled this off the net yet, but here's the first thing I always think of when someone quotes Carl's famous "billyuns" phrase:

Could you do the Foglios a favor and point that link to their Airship Entertainment page? They do have all the Phil and Dixie strips up in their archives, and it would give the readers the links to some of their other stuff...

Whups, I just bugged Aaron about the same thing. I should have read the comments, first. Thank you for looking out for us!

I do indeed have all of Phil's What's New strips running as a "vintage pre-web comic" on our site. (www.philanddixie.com will take you right to the title page.) I upload a new one every Sunday. Eventually, we'll run out, and then I guess I'll have to go back and do commentary on the older pages, just for something new to post. heh.

Yikes! Sorry about that. I was foolishly relying on Google Image Search.

Which, by the way, is finally producing images of Phil other than the one of him in the overcoat and derby. His top hat and Griffendor scarf ensemble looks quite smashing. :)

If I may humbly offer, I believe I have a better link to that strip.
When linking to copyrighted material, I feel it is always best to link to the copyright holder themselves (when possible), and thankfully Phil Foglio is sharing all the Phil and Dixie strips for free!

You could just mosey over to www.PhilAndDixie.com and then search for the Sept 82 strip, or you could use this handy direct link: http://www.airshipentertainment.com/growfcomic.php?date=20070617

I like that Harry Potter article. I, too, enjoyed the books, but always wondered why they didn't embrace modern clothing styles and ink pens.

Now that I think about it, didn't they say some muggle stuff was "forbidden?" I want to say that Mr. Weasley was threatened about having contraband devices from the muggle world, but it's been a while since I last read the books.

Even so, you know someone would have smuggled in an iPod by now...

I think at some point in the books, it might have been Goblet of Fire, Hermione gives some exposition as to magic interfering with electrical fields, in response to Harry saying something along the lines of "well, why doesn't some wizard use this technological device instead?" In a reverse of Babylon 5's Techno-Mages, I think they end up using magic to simulate the effects of technology...

Now you made me want to read the books again :P

It's what we do. Over and over.

Though now you've made me want to go watch "Babylon-5" again.

I imported the complete Cosmos boxset years ago, had to buy it direct from some foundation as they were the only ones selling it at the time; it was shown on BBC2 when I was growing up and I could never forget the image of his Dandelion craft flying through space.

I liked that he got the chance to update each show for the DvD release.

And I was trying to hunt down the exact quote, but Stephen Fry reported that Sagan had said, when asked if Bach should be included in the record going out on the Voyager spacecraft, that doing so would "just be us showing off." :)
