But if I play it now, I know it will murder my productivity on two different projects. Sigh.
Well, at least there's Civ IV and its mods. It's fun enough to kill some time here and there for a break, but not like a Time-Ninja, which Fallout 3 is not unlike Sho Kusugi in this regard from what I hear*.
ETA: *I can't believe I thought this sentence was made from Sense when I was typing. Sleep-- I needs it.
The biggest problem I had stopping was that the game would give me a "go over there and do this" type mission. But on the way "there," I would discover another "there," and stick my nose in, which led to even MORE "there," and so on.
I believe I've stumbled into about 5 or 6 "missions" I hadn't been assigned. And most of them were due to me not being able to find the route my map said led to the next goal on the mission I was currently on.
Dear oh dear, I'm going to have to hold off on playing it, because I have the same problems. Nothing will get done on my end and my life will become Fallout 3 bliss...
I am going to avoid it like the plague, because unless the image you include is an actual screenshot, I'm going to end up as a shrivelled corpse. Also why I haven't gotten that deep into gaming or anything with 'collectible' in the name that I can avoid -- my OCD tendencies have gotten me fired before, and a personality test once creeped the heck out of me because it was spot on about my X-Files collection.
I wish it were; I was at the computer for so long, I had a hard time keeping my balance when I finally stood up to walk away in search of food.
Having an encumbrance limit helps, but I'm told by a friend of mine who has explored a different part of the game that your character can get a house, which, as George Carlin said, "is a pile of stuff with a cover on it."
If they're ever able to make an MMO with this level of plot/content, and keep it fresh and ongoing... I fear for humanity.
What do you mean? Give everyone (sans the odd technician/essential services worker) a computer and a copy of the game, and bam! An end to all virtual wars ever.
Well, unless there's delays on shipping the sequel or something to that effect. But lack of exercise, sleep, and proper nutrition would make the uprising easy to quell.
"Let me tell you about the great Server Downage of '53, sonny..." "Is that the one where everyone but you an' me got killed, grandpa?" "Yep. Lucky thing we were both on instanced missions and didn't need the network for a while..."
On the IESB.net FFN: Just great. Now all those yahoos here who already think Obama is the anti-Christ are going to be watching the skies for God's Wrath.
The atmosphere, for me, is a bit of a disappointment - it's post-nuclear carnival, not post-nuclear survival. A lot closer to Fallout 2 than the original Fallout in this regard. Also, I want my isometric perspective back!
Now that you mention it, it does have a bit of the "Road Warrior" tribal kitch going on. Of course, it's plenty dark to be able to order a "Mr. Handy" robot to read poetry to a skeleton in a bunk bed...
I would say that an isometric option would have made it a lot easier to tell who was shooting at me; I've often taken several hits before being able to find out what's pinging/gnawing/spitting at me.
