I must have read too many differing articles. I know there's a kind of "got'cha, you're not from around here" thing about what is and isn't "Big Ben," right? I want to say Q.I. did a question on it about how "Big Ben" is just a nickname for (I think) the bell, not the tower or the clock...
...and I don't even trust anything I Google about it at this point. :)
The thing that's funniest about all the freaking out about Halloween, particularly the "demonic" trick-or-treating, is that not only do the practices have Christian roots, trick-or-treating itself is a civil rights success
( ... )
Besides, I think people should be left alone in their beliefs if it hurts nobody else. After all it's not exactly a good "christian" holiday. I'm pagan and I actually agree with that.
I remember there was usually one teacher (or a few) that became favored targets of our own small-town mischief. One, a science teacher, happily told us about the traps he'd set for anyone who came around his house and that toilet paper in his trees could be twirled like spaghetti via a rake and occasionally put to its original use later.
This was a teacher whose favorite Halloween costume was Freddy Kruger, complete with metal chemical scoops taped to a leather glove.
Also.. seconded on a Damage Control movie.. It would be a great perspective shift from the other superhero movies.. Hell it wouldn't even need an FX budget really.
my catholic church when I was a kid had halloween parties a couple of times, then tried to make us dress up as saints or have a "all souls night" party instead.
why couldn't we just do day of the dead? wait, too ethnic...
What's kind of odd is that the only schools I know in our area that do the full dress-up thing are the private schools. I dunno if they have any restrictions on said outfits, though I figure they'd at least want nothing that would permanently stain the carpets or anything.
How popular were costumes for Saint Sebastian or Saint John (the Baptist)?

The internet is getting too meta for me. First I get Big Ben wrong, now I'm not sure what's real.
