Clearly KCPL wants you to walk da plank. Arr. (Okay, there's my obligatory talk like a pirate day comment. Cue the obligatory Parrots of the Caribbean montage.)

You are aware that six of the seven custom cars in the original Death Race 2000 were converted from Volkswagens, right? Granted, the Porsche replica looks very nice.
(Have you seen Rise of the Mattmobile on YouTube? Or did I learn about it from you?)

Just shows the versatility that one can put into a bug. Wish I could find another when I have the money. Never do. My first car was a VW bug, and the dealer mentioned another buyer who put an engine that was either a Porsche engine or Mercedes into the car, having to take out the rear seat to fit it. It could reach light speed in under a second because the car was still a featherweight in comparison to the torque and power of the engine. I would imagine it took an entirely different discipline in throttle control to keep that car under the limit in town.

A city near me, Columbia, Missouri, seemed to be the capitol for people who owned VW Vans (many with the pop-up tent built into the roof).
Speaking of VW/Porsche, a friend of mine claimed his old VW Rabbit (this was over 20 years ago) required the same carburetor as one of the various models of Porsche. When it needed replacing, and he saw the cost, it was what inspired him to get out a cement saw and make his hatchback into a permanent convertible (leaving the hatch's "frame" intact as a "roll bar").
Torchwood: Miracle Day definitely felt padded. Or at least, if they wanted to make the Miracle a running subplot in a "normal" season, it really felt lopsided.
As for why Jack's immortality appears to be shareable, I may have guessed correctly when Miracle Day started, but I got the cause and effect backwards.
My theory was that someone was after Jack so they figured out how to "negate" his immortality by diffusing it among the human population; they became immortal, but without the regenerative abilities Jack displays. (Jack makes a crack at one point about "morphic fields" being involved but that it was like saying it was caused by "radiation"; it doesn't explain what or howWhen Jack and Rex used Jack's "mortal" blood to reset the Blessing, my guess is that the Blessing didn't know which one of them was the actual source (if it's sentient) or the presence of Jack's blood in Rex's body caused the immortality effect to hook onto him when the morphic field was reset
( ... )
I'm sure Davies wants a crack at telling all in a follow-up series. If they wanted to do an All-American version, they killed off the wrong parts of the team, I think. :) Also, having John DeLancie be a kind of "overseer" for such a group would have been interesting.
But yes, once again the villains didn't do the obvious. It does make me wonder why they took Kitzinger to see the Blessing, other than to have someone that the audience would tag along with. I mean, unless it does (did?) grant long life and this ritual was kind of geared to make sure your new applicants didn't go nuts or have some kind of secret that would make them unstable... Gah. There was too much going on that seems to have had little bearing in retrospect. And then the guy who was her contact basically told her they'd pretty much expected it to fail? That was a little much for me.
something that I want to do (but will be unlikely to have the funds for) is get a stable of independent animators and start producing short films, either as serials or anthologies. there are so many good people that have stuff on youtube....
And it's kind of a viable labor pool. They do the grunt work and you give them an "A" for the semester. I'd bet the problem would be in keeping the quality/imagery consistent over a longer feature.
But as I understand it, "Mirrormask" was, basically, a student project that Neil Gaiman and his partner/producer got a 3D animation class to work on. They told them there was only one CGI shot, but it was about eighty minutes long. :)
Vodka in a pie crust is new for me, but it's not the first of the sort I've encountered. Alton Brown has an apple pie recipe that makes use of apple jack (a type of brandy) in that way.

Now I wonder if flavored rums (like vanilla) would work, or if there are some additives/ingredients in liquors that might have negative effects.
