Well, yes... there's the $1 coins for the presidents, but here's how we know who the power in the White House is (or at least was for one president): the mint is also making First Spouse coins... at $10 per coin.
And the quarters are now talking about all of the National Parks. Is it just me or is the half-dollar sort of like that drunk uncle that no one ever wants to talk about?

A detailing tip...if you want the black finish to appear to have flaked off revealing the raw metal underneath, there is an easy way to do this. First spray or brush your metal color on. Second, using a small candle, drip wax onto the places you want the flakes to appear. Then spray your black coating over the whole thing and allow it to dry. Simply scrape away the little blobs of wax to reveal your flaked-off areas!
I'd recommend looking at modern pictures of pistols from the 1880s and pre-WW1 eras to get an idea of how and where these mechanisms would display wear, and how the various metal finishes have changed with time. And I'll bet your local library will have something on aging woodwork and metal for patina effects someplace in the 730s...
Question...in Tuesday's FFN, is Lewis repairing a PC there? Does that imply actual technical aptitude on his part? It's interesting to know that there's something Lewis is actually good at.
