I recall reading something alonf the lines that Anton Chekhov disliked leaning on writing techniques like the eponymous gun, tried to write plays where someone was not killed with a gun, and finally succeeded in writing one play where the gun gets fired but the bullet doesn't hit anybody. I think there was also another play where characters talk about shooting themselves, but in the end no one dies. Audiences, of course, were not impressed...
Anyone who wants answers from Lost would be completely lost with The Prisoner :)
I'm surprised at how conservative the writers of V seem to be. "You mean, you're offering us... free health care?" dun dun DUNNN!!! All the same, I'm enjoying the show as (flawed) sci-fi. It's fun watching Morena Baccarin be all evil.
I agree on the "human emotion" thing. Why did they suddenly start experiencing this? Because they're wearing human skins? Because they've been hanging around us? It makes no sense.
I wonder if the writers just really liked Spock from Star Trek and wanted to make a show where a Vulcan-like race changed their ways because they "discovered human love" or something. I hope Peter Graves recorded a voice over for this show if that's the case.
Here's the problem with V in a nutshell. They saw how Battlestar Galatica handled its upgrade, and learned all the wrong lessons. Compare all the plot similarities:
1) You don't know who's a Vylon. 2) There's a human Vylon baby. 3) The Vylons start to feel human emotions while claiming to be cold emotionless machines. 4) Sneak Attack! 5) The Vylons have a plan. Honest. We promise. Really!
V is just dumb. There was an episode where they explained why the Vs used pointy metal to kill humans instead of zap guns (they're untraceable? They haven't seen CSI). Yet their zap guns DISINTEGRATE PEOPLE. THAT'S untraceable.
The original V was a modern spin on It Can't Happen Here. The modern V is an incoherent mishmash of plot elements stolen and then poorly applied from Battlestar. Blech.

Ok, the only question I demand answering is what is Man In Black's name!!!! There is no way Jacob called him "brother" for all those centuries together.
You know, it's probably an indicator of how much GaoGaiGar I've been watching lately that the name of 'Heaven of Hell' conjured up a *totally* different mental image...granted, that'd be Heaven *and* Hell, but still...
Seen it? It scared the heck out of me. I'd opened a browser window to my homepage (Google) and then remembered an e-mail I wanted to reply to. Out of nowhere, into my headphones, came the musical command to dash through a maze and eat everything I could.
That said, Pac-Man is a very interesting game when you stick dead ends and loooong straightaways with no escapes in it...

I wonder if the number six has been secreted away in some scene on the island and I just missed it?

The Oceanic Six
The six numbers that have to be typed in every 108 minutes
I'm sure there will be others, if we watch the DVDs from start to finish ;)

And I'd have to endure the Charlie episodes. That video where they were dressed as babies was exceptionally painful.

Just did think of a 'good' catchphrase for the new series...'V2! It's a real bomb...' ;-)
