Injured Stormtroopers

Whenever people bring up Stormtrooper Armour and whether it is any use they refer to a particular scene. Admittedly it was rather late in the hexacology to set any precedent being as it was during the boarding of Leia's ship in SW:ANH... i.e the opening scenes of the first movie. :p
When Vader boards the Corvette there are Stormtroopers sitting slumped against the walls with other Stormtroopers who look like they are talking to them. That they are sitting up and being talked to suggests they are alive. That they don't jump to their feet and come to attention like the standing Stormtroopers suggests they are injured and cannot stand.

Perhaps they were asking if they could have the soon-to-be-dead trooper's stuff. I mean, if they were still using clones at that point, their wardrobes would all be the same size, and they'd have similar tastes. :)
But did Trooper Armor ever serve a purpose beyond environmental protection and "looking menacing"? I wouldn't mind seeing it take a couple of hits before letting the wearer utter a Wilhelm scream.

Thanks! And the same to you and all of us (I think we could all use it after the past decade). Lets hope we at least roll better on the random encounter tables.
I'm not sold on the hair, and I'll be interested to see what other adaptations to film are made, but I'll definitely want to soak in all of the spaceflight scenes.
Having not seen many anime-to-live-action productions, is "Hardy Boys Hair" a common style to simulate the fuzzy/spikey look from the cartoons?

Not saying that as a negative but it might go a long way to dispel the notion of "Doctor Potter-who".

That's VERY creepy, actually.
