Badgers, Ho!

Mar 18, 2016 21:59

Poking my head up from black belt training for this year's edition of March Madness. The Badgers lost some of their key players from last year's Final Four team to graduation, so I wasn't sure how it would go. They were up against Pitt in a low-scoring, ugly game, but they managed to win, 47-43. So they'll have at least one more game on Sunday ( Read more... )

I am majorly impressed with your stamina and drive. Wow.

At this point it's less drive than sheer cussedness. ;-) After all this effort, I might as well keep going.

I'm totally in awe of your energy!

That energy is rapidly depleting. At this point I'm just keeping moving.

I am amazed that anyone could keep up that pace in the first place! Go you! *hugs*

I was meaning to ask you about Ros and Harry Potter, and how you were going with the series and whether you've got the play script on pre-order - one can't pass a bookshop here without seeing posters about it!

At this point it's a total grind, but I will keep going!

Ah, Harry Potter. Apparently The Deathly Hallows was more stressful than she could take. We stalled about a hundred pages in and she's currently refusing to let me read any further. I have hopes we'll get back to it soon, if for no other reason than the Sweetie and I never did manage to see the last movie and we want to see how it all ends.

Fingers crossed I can entice her back with the play script. Or, ya know, a trip to London to *see* the play. Because I'm willing to make sacrifices that way. *g*

Well I'm certainly going to applaud any scheme that brings you back to the UK *g* ♥

I'm always looking for schemes of that nature. *g*

Wow. I can fully understand the appeal of this goal--totally immersing yourself in it, in fact, but with an end date in sight. Go you! That's fabulous and amazing!

ETA: Oh, and go Badgers! My niece was on campus for a visit and sent me photos. Good lord, it took me back. Although when she told me she was eating in "the union", and then later said it was Unison South, it took me a while to process that and send her towards Memorial Union. It's nearly 30 years since I was a graduate student there. Gah!

Much like writing, it will be cool to have gotten my black belt, but I'm at the part where the process itself is a bit of a grind. But hooray for end dates!

Memorial Union is definitely the place to go. I took Don there years ago when we were doing a tour around Lake Michigan and stopped in Madison for a visit. We had beer on the lakeside terrace and it was lovely. It's been 23 years since I was a grad student there. How is that possible?!

**Seriously** impressed here! Entirely aside from everything else (which I'm absolutely amazed by, having difficulty even convincing myself to get off the couch a couple times a day), I couldn't even begin to run a 5K, let alone do it after a weekend of being wrung out...

Best of luck, though it sounds as if you've got the bit between your teeth and won't need it.

The 5K run is what I'm most dreading. Though to be honest, between my asthma and my crappy knees, it's probably going to be more of a run/walk thing. The rest is just putting the time in and doing the work, one step at a time. I have to admit, I'm relieved to see the end in sight.

:) Well, it may be one step at a time, but you've been the one taking those steps. And continuing to take them, even when it's been very hard to do so. I'm very impressed!

It may be hard, but in the end I'm doing this because I enjoy it. I have to remind myself of that on Power Weekend. ;-)
