Had a great practice today. The kids had fun and they were rocking the passing. The game itself was fun, but a bit less successful: final score: 4 - 8, and not for us, alas. The 4 points were all from the same kid. He's quiet and intense and really loves playing the game. Which is good, because he was in the final lineup for the evening and

I haven't even gone near War Horse, as I know I will be a blubbery mess throughout the whole damn thing - interesting to hear about the difference audience reatcions there.
And go you for the BB!!!!!! Wow, that's an enviable worrd count ( I think I'm going to write sex scenes until Sunday to get to the rough draft minimum and then fill in the plot later - that'll work, right???)

War Horse will totally make you a blubbery mess, but it's also astoundingly good.
The BB word count is coming along, but I'm also at the "wow, this might be total crap" stage. Sex scenes to get to the rough draft minimum seems a reasonable strategy to me. *g*

Re War Horse, did you see this?

I'd heard about the War Horse on top of the National for the Jubilee, but hadn't seen it. Thanks for the link!

Yay for 14,000 words! I am totally envious! At this point, I have no idea how long mine will turn out to be, but I'm thinking maybe around the 20,000 mark. Which is a scary thought, considering I'm still in the 6000, so I'm not going to think about it! So, hey, thank goodness we actually have a couple of months! *g*

6,000 words is great! And if you're aiming for 20,000, you might actually have fewer words to the end than I do, if that makes you feel any better. (I'm going to try writing like the wind, since I've also got another BB with an even earlier deadline to get going on. Yikes!)

Yay for 14k! Well done you *g* I realised, like last year, that my story needed kind of disassembling and reassembling with the same stuff in a different order, more or less, and that seems to be adding words which is good. I reckon mine might end up at 20k when all's said and done, but we'll see. Over the minimum, anyway. It's the summary that's bugging me!

Yay for you being over the minimum! Though I have to say, having to gut a story and redo it is never a fun thing, even if it's sometime necessary. Glad it's ticking along, though. My strategy for dealing with the summary at the moment is avoidance. I hate writing summaries. When I have to do one for AO3 half the time I just pull the first line and call it sorted, which I don't think is going to work for the BB story. :-/

I hope the strategy with Ros works. I think it's part of how a lot of kids end up dropping out of sports, that they can't just let go and let loose.
\o/ for the word count. There you go, romping over the rough draft deadline.

I don't know that I've exactly romped over the deadline, but at least I won't be down to the wire this year.
