I have a question for the right wing groups - if the polls have decided that Obama has won the state and he's clearly a lot more moderate than McCain who is it they are trying to appeal too given that they make Attlia the Hun look reasonable?

They are trying to appeal to swing voters or people leaning towards Obama but not totally convinced. If they can raise enough doubt or create enough excuses to make Obama less attractive, the race becomes in play again. The drumbeat of letters to the editor in our local paper this week seems to be the talking points that Obama is a radical Socialist anti-Christian wolf-in-sheep's-clothing who is out to destroy America. I haven't been following them too closely, but I wouldn't rule out godless Communist appearing at some point, since we still have plenty of people for whom the Cold War never really ended.
