Powerful. Lisa was a strong, secure woman which is why she could handle Dean's damaged soul.

Amen. I didn't like Lisa much at first, but after the fifth season I warmed to her quite a bit. She's an interesting character, I think -- and her role in Dean's life is so important and so complicated; it's fun to explore.

Ooo, I love the subtlety of this, how quiet it is. The way Dean's distress is palpable and silent, and how delicately Lisa holds his entire fate in the palm of her hand and still tries to meet him halfway. Very human, very lovely. She could destroy him with a word and ye, she tries not to. She wants to be the kind of person most of us can barely imagine being. Amazing.

(EDIT: Feel like I've been reading a lot of your fic lately and in order to cut out the middleman, am friending. Hope that's okay!)

Oh, it's more than okay. I may or may not have been lurking through your fic list and absolutely adoring the gorgeousness of your writing. Particularly your beautiful, quiet, hurty, Perfect S4 AU. Those stories afforded me a very teary and enjoyable Sunday afternoon, indeed.

So glad you like this -- I hadn't even picked up on that idea of Lisa's power over Dean, but now that you point it out....yeah. It's a weird relationship, and really frustrating to write, because nothing can ever be easy about their situation. The whole way through, I was trying desperately not to force too much responsibility onto either party and wondering how the hell I was going to get them out of that agonizing confrontation without totally crushing one or the other. (But then there was pizza and a caterpillar hunt and everything was good again...:)

A very well written Lisa, understanding and careful, knowing that she has to tread the minefield of Dean very carefully

Thanks! She turned out to be both a challenge and a joy to write.

I love the way you wrote Lisa here, and I also really like that you mix some lightness in with the angst.

The lightness was totally unplanned -- this was going to be full-on angst all the way through. And then it just seemed like pizza was required. And silly biology projects. I'm very much of the Angst-Hurts-Better-With-Schmoop-On-Top school. :)

This is really great! I don't often seek out Dean and Lisa fic, and I don't know why, because I think their relationship is so interesting and has so much potential in that it's so normal and so very not at the same time. Thank you for sharing this!

I'm not necessarily a huge Dean/Lisa fan myself, but I totally agree with you -- that tension between the Normal and the Very Not is so rewarding to work with. It's the idea at the core of the show, in some ways, but their relationship brings it into special focus, I think. Very glad this fic brought that out for you!
