Author: lilyleia78
Relationship: Jack/Sky
Rating: PG-13
Warning: Singing involved. It's not a songfic-I promise. Okay, it kind of is...
Disclaimer: If I owned them-you all would love my changes :)
Prompt: 7-Fire
The song is Fire by the Pointer Sisters. I highly recommend it!
The title is stolen from the song, because my creativity deserted me.
PS-I think my next story is confusing. Can I get a beta for it? If anyone wants to volunteer, just leave a comment.
“That was just stupid, Sky,” Jack yelled at the other man in the car. His initial panic over Sky’s safety had turned into fury on his way to SPD. “Why didn’t you wait for backup? You could have ended up with a lot worse than a bump on the head.” He silently added, I could have lost you.
The object of his anger looked over at Jack with disbelief written all over his face. “People were in danger. I’m Red Ranger. Was I just supposed to just sit back and watch until help arrived? Is that what you would have done, oh mighty leader?”
“I’m not your leader,” Jack snapped.
“And whose fault is that?” Sky muttered under his breath. Jack pretended not to hear.
“I LOVE you, you idiot! Do you think I enjoy getting phone calls telling me that my boyfriend’s been concussed, because he doesn’t care enough about himself-about us-to do the sensible thing for once in his life?”
“I was doing my job,” Sky protested heatedly, then quieter, “I do care.”
“Could’ve fooled me,” Jack hissed. This seemed to take something out of Sky. He slumped in his seat dejectedly, and Jack instantly felt bad. He hadn’t meant to imply that this…thing between them meant nothing to Sky. That had been his anxiety talking. Tentatively Jack reached toward the passenger seat, but Sky pulled away from the touch.
They drove without speaking after that. Soon, the silence became a thick wall between them, and Jack flipped on the radio. Jack knew he had let his fear get the best of him. He wanted to fix it. Sky was still a ranger, and yelling at him for doing his duty wasn’t going to help. The silent treatment wasn’t going to solve anything either.
So, all I have to do, Jack thought, is apologize without admitting I was wrong. An old Pointer Sisters song came on the radio and gave him an idea. The former red ranger began to hum quietly. Sooner than Jack expected, Sky begin to sing. The words were so quiet that Jack didn’t think Sky himself was aware he was doing it.
“I'm ridin' in your car, you turn on the radio
You're pullin' me close, I just say no
I say I don't like it, but you know I'm a liar
'Cause when we kiss, ooh, fire “
Jack hummed slightly louder. Sky gradually adjusted his voice to match Jack’s volume.
You had a hold on me right from the start
A grip so tight I couldn't tear it apart
My nerves all jumpin', actin' like a fool
Well, your kisses they burn...
Sky seemed to realize what he was doing, so Jack stopped humming and pulled over. He turned to apologize, and found his arms full of Sky. Jack experienced a moment of surprise before warm lips pressed against his own.
Sky’s fingers were tangled in his hair, holding Jack in place while he gently nibbled and teased. Jack moaned softly in encouragement. He could feel Sky smile against his mouth before he deepened the kiss, wet tongue sliding against Jack’s swollen lips. Jack instantly parted for him, letting Sky explore in a leisurely fashion until Jack couldn’t breath, couldn’t think, couldn’t feel anything except for Sky.
“I do care,” Sky repeated as he pulled back with obvious reluctance. Jack’s face split in a wide grin. There would be time later for apologies. He leaned in for one last kiss, and pulled the car back into the road.
The song was long over, but Sky sang the fade-out anyway.
Kisses like fire...
