A Lovely Night, by the_astronomer, Wes/Eric

I seem to write when I’m in various states of distress. I guess it diffuses all the energy. Case in point: I started writing Wes/Eric when I got the stomach flu. I’m currently writing this while experiencing a migraine. Life’s funny like that. There’s probably not anyone waiting for me to write this, and seeing as it took almost 2 months, I had to ( Read more... )

Thanks. I tried to make it funny without it being too ridiculous. Kind of hard to do when my migraine was taking over, but I tried anyway. It's been a rough couple of weeks with school, and this was the most fun I've had since all the crap started. Nice to see it worked out well.

Very, very nicely done! You captured both Wes and Eric perfectly - I can totally see Eric going ballistic like that - and I loved the humor of Wes embarrassing Eric in his drugged-out state.

Suggestion, though - 'show, don't tell' is very true. IMO it would have been more engaging if done with dialog as it happened, so to speak, instead of narration after the fact.

Lots of possibilities for a follow-up here, I hope you continue!

Yea I know. One of my downfalls is I'm too chicken to write dialogue. I'm going to try writing it for my next story (whenever that may be), so we'll see how that goes. I almost started this one with dialogue, but I just got lazy I suppose. I guess I need to write at some time other than late at night :)

On a more positive note, I'm always happy to see that the Queen herself (haha) approves of how I portray Wes and Eric. Eric going ballistic is a very easy thing to write, 'cause he definitely would do that. Of course, so would I. Loyalty and a sense of duty run deep with Eric when it comes to Wes, and writing that is easy because it's how I am with my friends.

Drugged out Wes? Always a good idea. I always hear stories about my sister crying hysterically and generally getting weirder when heavily drugged, so that's my ode to her. And I know Wes would totally milk it just to watch Eric squirm in front of Mr. Collins. :) Don't worry, there will be more...eventually. Thanks again!
