Turns in the Road: A Walk on the Wild Side, by cmar, Wes/Eric

Title: A Walk on the Wild Side
Author: cmar
Relationship: Wes/Eric
Rating: PG
Warning: Eric/Taylor and Wes/Jen. Yes, in a Wes/Eric story.

With thanks to Angel Negra for some illuminating remarks.

This is my seventh entry, and I've finished the PRSW7. (Plus one, since I've 'cheated' and done two themes here.) Woo-hoo, and on to PRSW22!

Taylor gets flirty, Wes gets cranky, Jen gets wistful, and Eric assaults a watermelon. Just your average Ranger picnic. )

wes/eric, animals, watermelon, cmar

I'm so glad you updated. I hope it isn't unrequited either (even though I've already read your Red Fire series!) :)

Yeah, we know better, don't we? Thanks! And I do intend to continue this to the full 22 themes and finish the overall story, it just may take some time.

Thanks - telling it from the outside - Taylor's POV - and still trying to make it clear what was going on was kind of a nice challenge.

And glad you liked the 'what he has' line!

You mentioned this in Fall From Grace. Good to finally know what happened. AND, no hard feelings from Taylor! Not sure I could manage that, even knowing what my rival had that I didn't. *snicker*

Yeah, after all, Taylor only knew Eric for two days, a short enough time that I don't think a hard-headed person like her would get too emotionally invested. While people romanticise their interaction in RftF, mostly what I saw was this kind of casual teasing and flirting, both characters having a little fun with someone they can instinctively understand since they're so much alike.

I liked this. You did a very good job of showing Wes and Eric through Taylor's eyes. Nice and subtle. And a happy endings of sorts. Good Taylor voice too.

Thanks! I was uncertain since I don't know Taylor well and don't like what I've seen - but writing her really was a nice experience. Glad you liked it.

I kind of like Taylor. As a het pairing, I think she and Eric could work to an extent. They certainly have some sort of spark.

As her own character, I really like that she's flawed. I think that a lot of what's wrong with her character is really what's wrong with WF in general. Sucky writing.

Very awesome. It was nice to see a different POV if only for a change of pace.
