I'm a little upset that somehow Genshiken was deemed ineligible

It's always possible there was a mistake of some kind. The yuletide mods aren't in anime/manga/jpop/etc. fandoms and always request help evaluating the rarity of those. It's possible someone confused Genshiken for another fandom or that it was deleted entirely by mistake. It's also possible there are some fic communities on LJ that aren't actually producing much fic but that have a lot of posts. (So to you, that would look like a lack of activity, but to a yuletide mod browsing, the calendar view would tell a different story.) Is it part of a bigger franchise? Does it have a similar name to something else?

If it really is rare, you could try nominating it again next year. (Even if there was a mistake, the exchange is just too big for the mods to go back and change things now, unfortunately.)

Ah, yes; I am pretty sure it was just a mistake, and I appreciate that the mods have a lot of things to deal with, which is why I didn't bother to bring the issue up. I'll definitely nominate it again next year (providing the fandom doesn't miraculously explode between now and then, of course).
