[fic] Wreath : Love

Dec 19, 2007 09:38

Well, World of Warcraft stole me for almost a week there, but I'm back now...with a level 26 night elf hunter. I figured I might as well start posting my fics for the Christmas challenge, even if I'm having troubles with the last one. Actually, pretty much the only fic for the challenge that came easily to me was this first one - something about ( Read more... )

It's a good speechless. Very poignant.

I love the how of Prowl getting injured. Makes me want to gloat to Megatron that he's failed to kill Optimus because the Autobots have heroes. Prime is loved, and his followers protect him. So cool.

And Prowl taking half of it---Prowl is smart!

I think that this is one of the best pieces I've read for this sort of thing. The reality is I see this as being the reality. I can see Prowl and Jazz not bonding, putting their relationship on hold, or even breaking up and pining for the sake of the war. They know they're strong enough to make it through.

It also puts another spin on Prowl's actions. It's better to lose only one instead of two. He knew Jazz could survive without him. while at the same time knowing Elita couldn't survive without Optimus. And that was something Jazz realized.

Very good work.

Couldn't have said it better myself!

...wow. Oddly enough, I didn't even notice that last point, at least on a concious level, heh. You're right, it does put an extra spin on Prowl's actions, and now that I'm thinking about it, it makes all the officer's actions make sense...cuz if they lose one leader, they lose 'em both.

But yeah. As much as I love the bonding/bonded fics...it really does not make sense if it's as...serious and intense, I suppose, as most authors portray it. If losing your bonded really means you die, end of story, no chance to keep living (at least in a sane manner...hmm...Megatron plot bunny there...), then it wouldn't make sense to bond during war time, especially if both transformers are soldiers. The toll psychologically, even if both survived, would be...pretty damn heavy ( ... )

It doesn't make sense, but in questions such as emotions anything -hardly- makes sense. You explored that yourself in one of your fics, actually. XD It makes no sense to even harbor feelings of affection or love or stablish a relationship during a war. Bond or no bond losing someone you truly love will set you on edge. I know that from personal experience a little too well and god knows I'me everything but 'bonded' in the way we see TF Bonding. /endpersonalangst ( ... )

Great job - like others, this is a *very* realistic possibiity, and something that as much as I'm a P/J, O/E, I/C shipper, isn't really dealt with outside of angst-iness.

I loved the line But Prowl's pretty good at predictin' outcomes,... - and thus once again, both P&J show WHY they are Optimus Prime's #2&3, across the years, mediums & universes :) Ratchet's ending thought - excellent!

Yeah, Prowl and Jazz are so often underestimated as 2nd & 3rd in command. I mean, it's not surprising, but at the same time...every once and awhile, it's nice to point out, or see it pointed out, just how fragging competant and skilled they have to be to have their positions - IE, second and third in command of an army that's effectively half of an entire race.

As for dealing with it outside of angst...heh, I don't do angst. I can try...but it ends out funny. *points to her LotR epic fanfic as proof* People can be dying, dead, or kidnapped and possibly dead or whatever other horrible things...and I'll find a way for the other characters to be angsting over them and still making Star Trek jokes, believably.
