She was almost right in front of him when he saw her through the fog, and George grinned with relief. "Beka! Tis a nice thing t'be seein' a friendly face."

"Pox," she breathed as he blocked her way back to the school gates. What he'd said, she did not know. It sounded foreign, like one of the languages she'd heard afore at the docks, but she knew a threat when she'd heard it. "Stay back," she warned.
