I'd try calling the local bridal shops to see if they would do an alterations on a dress they didn't sell. I don't blame you for avoiding a dry cleaners.

Providence Watch Hospital might be the place to see about getting your watch engraved. Otherwise, do you have a jeweler you trust? Most of them do engraving - I had my wedding bands done at one in East Providence. Sadly they're no longer in business.
