Hello, Hello, Hello!!!

Please forgive my feeble attempts at trying to break in to everything! m_ _m I am extremely happy to join you all here at CFUD!

Anyway...Amongst a few of the things I've noticed - everyone seems to retain their own RP styles. For instance, some illustrate action in *asterisks*, and some -hyphens-...Ect. I have had to answer a ( Read more... )

Hi Lee!

You wouldn't beleieve how glad I am to see this post in your journal, cause there was a bit of confusion last night when we were trying to thread. Particularly, some of the comments that you were making OOCly was difficult to interpret as such. Like the man train.

For the record, CFUD tends to use asterisks and square brackets to indicate actions, and anything that is overtly OOC, meaning something the player would say as opposed to a side note of the character, in double parentheses. Such as: ((This is such an awesome thread!)). Or even labelling the sentence AS an OOC comment. Again, example as ((OOC:this is an ooc comment rly))Also, just reading over your post, you were saying things about thoughts? Again, CFUD RP styles relate to that of a normal conversation, so unless you are having a conversation with a mind reader, thoughts are never explicitly stated ( ... )

Aha! I thought I was sensing a bit of confusion there! I am so sorry about that! ^o^ In any case, I am glad my little explanation helped a bit! <3

As for [[small bracketed ooc comments]], I certainly use those as well...for ooc comments! ^o^/

Usually, the [Statements in brackets that are not actual actions] are like...OOC version of character sentiments... a more OOC approach to what the character might be thinking/feeling. A good example was last night! Lee would actually think something like, -What was that?!-, but in my own words, it could have been, [What the Hell was that? O.o], but it expressed the character's curiosity in an ooc manner (for a more satirical approach or whatever) ^o^...I guess I'm so used to doing such a thing that I don't realize that some people don't really get it at times! XD; I figure that it's not as widely practiced as it seems in other places I've been in...I'll try not to confuse anyone with it, though XD;

I do understand what you mean by putting slightly OOC comments in square brackets. However... a lot of the time when someone DOES use it, the character usually... says something, so that some form of IC interaction can be accomplished.

Honestly, if the only comment was a square bracket, but seemed like an OOC comment... it just gets really confusing. I really do recommend just maybe taking a look at several posts and just seeing what the general trend is in this game, as it's pretty much what everyone else is accustomed to.

Hi Lee,

Basically I found this post and ditto everything Horohoro said.

I don't know if you would want to do this, but a way that people definitely won't confuse Lee's thought for actual speech is putting IC thoughts in the comment's subject line. Kyon, who has narrator role in his canon, has been doing it that way in camp for a long time and it's worked really well. Anyway, it's a suggestion because I've noticed it was mixing people up a little.
