Like any tool for self-improvement, it can be used for good or for ill. But that's why everyone should LEARN -- not to abandon this tool, but to use it wisely!!

I wouldn't particularly engage in it, wise or not. Fencing or dueling I can understand, but exerting energy for hand to hand combat is another thing altogether.

*scary engaging grin* Ah, now, I completely disagree. Everybody should be able to handle themselves in a hand-to-hand struggle! What if you should be caught with neither sword nor wand? You'd have to make do with the weapons bequeathed to you by sweet mother nature!!
