Puzzle 04: Discedo [audio; English]

Sep 01, 2009 13:02

Seems a bit silly, but can anybody tell me more about Discedo? Like why are all the street signs in English if this is another world? What happened to this place? Where did all these monsters come from? Who are these "scientists" I keep hearing about? What's this "chip" exactly? The professor said it blocked our "powers". What kind of powers are ( Read more... )

what's going on 'ere?!, sickness, chocobo, infections, professor, cold, who wants to be a millionare?

There are lots of worlds where people speak English. Discedo is one of 'em, mine is too, and I suppose yours must be as well.

I heard that the original inhabitants got killed off by a disease. Except the scientists, I suppose, but I don't really know who they are.

It is, though I've heard Japanese here as well, but it doesn't seem to the native here. I wonder why that might be...

Disease, huh? It must have died with the old population, then. Where are the scientists?

Maybe 'cause this city is in the same place as Great Brytain, not Japan.

If we knew that, someone would have gotten 'em a long time ago.

So... it's like an alternate earth, here?

That's crazy! They just hide out? They should be at least be more productive and stop sitting around like a bunch of layabouts!

The "chip" suppresses the magical or otherwise 'abnormal' abilities of a person. As for the monsters, I have heard it said that they come here much as we do, from our 'worlds.'

What makes an ability "abnormal"? And does that mean that nothing here is actually "native"?

Simply put, an ability that defies the laws of science in some way. An ability unexplainable by normal means.

I cannot say if there are native things here or not. I presume the scientists, however.

Hmm, how do you mean?

Our kidnappers, right? Why would they take us here?

I guess some worlds have same languages? Who knows.

Discedo used to be a fishing village, but then uh....there was this virus, Atropos, that killed everyone. I think it came from an ugly infected fish. Or Accido. There was some war going on too. So the scientists, who survived it, brought us here to bring it back to uh...liveliness? I think?

The chips are little bitty things they put in us, they work like power stoppers.

oh god, im sorry, you're going to get over nine thousand questions proudapprentice September 1 2009, 19:31:19 UTC
It seems weird that they would, though. Back home all you had to do was ride a boat and you'd be speakin' another language.

What's Atropos? and Accido? What's wrong with the fish? How'd they survive? Seems like a silly reason to kidnap so many people, for. Why not just go somewhere nicer?

I realize that that much, but what kind of powers exactly?

Gee, maybe they just thought it would save on language lessons?

Atropos is a virus that melts your organs. Everybodyd here's got a vaccine shot for it now, I think. Part of the 'welcome package', along with the 'use this' and everything.

Accidio's some neighbor town or city or country...somewhere else in Fortuna. I don't think anyone lives there anymore either, but who knows! Never been there myself.

Beats me, who knows how that Sneaky Group's head works!

...Any powers that'd make it easy on us, I guess. Magic and things.

Funny reason, still. Interesting they chose English--guess I'm glad they did.

Oh, well that's helpful. It's like all these people know is how to kidnap people! Some scientists!

Has anybody else been to Accido before?

The Sneaky Group?

Hmmm, okay! That much makes sense.

I am sure all animals can be understood.

Huh? Oh... I guess I didn't turn it off when I thought I did...

I couldn't understand anything this bird was trying to say the other day, Miss Belldandy. Maybe there's exceptions?

No, its probably because you still have your chip in.

You can speak with animals as well?

Well, yes, I suppose you could call it that! I really do love animals, so I suppose I never thought about it, hah. Though, I didn't know the chip could block that, too.

Fine myself! I don't get sick much. Did you figure out what's wrong with your pendant?

I should have known. Be careful when you do get your chip out. I guess it's making people sick.
