Nineteen Purple Files

I suppose I should be glad my house, it was still here, when I got out of the infernal case. And I suppose I should be glad that I have no pets, because they would have starved ( Read more... )

Who says you weren't missed?

Me. See the writing? That is mine.

But there is dust on the floor, and everything is in order. I am lead to think that no one came by or noticed, hm? Do you say differently?

I missed you.

But, you know how it is. You can not see a person for several weeks and then suddenly run into them again. You could have been worried and they'd simply laugh and say, "oh yeah, I got like five new jobs and decided not to say anything about it over the journals."

Blame the flippant people, I say.

That, I did not expect.

The flippant, yes. It is good to have someone to blame, no? Very good.

Myself, I have been trapped for however long it was. And you? What have you been doing?

That's one way of looking at things.

Yes. Yes it is. That is why they are being looked at like that, no?

I thought I hadn't seen you come by in an awfully long while. I'm glad to see that you're all right.

smudge is intentional on my part. proudambassador July 9 2011, 23:47:17 UTC
No, you had not.

But perhaps I was a little hasty. A little. Only a smudge. It is good to see that you are as well.

Maybe just a bit.

Were you asleep in your house? Wouldn't Housekeeping have noticed, in the very least?

I'll make sure to call on you a bit more often from now on, though.

Perhaps they did, and thought nothing of it, hm?

This, I will appreciate.

I'm glad you're okay, my one and only brother! I actually got out of the Clinic recently. Some monster thingie gave quite a fight a week or so ago and... oh! I should give you the full details in person! That'd be a super idea!

Let me clean that up. Can I keep the sand, actually? I think I'll bring a jar.

[Long pause of thought.]

...Yes. You can keep the sand, and you can come tell me the details. Fighting, I know little of, but do come over.

You got it! You'll love this story! It's heroic, daring, dangerous, and it involves saving a lady! I get chills just thinking about that day, ooh!

I'm coming over now, if that's okay!

Saving a lady as well, hm? And did she reward you for this?

Yes, yes. The sooner the sand is gone, the better.

I am rather afraid I did not realize you were missing; but I only just returned myself after being away for, I am given to understand, an entire month.

I hope you were not adversely affected by your experience. Waking in a pile of sand is never pleasant.

Fred. You know, it could be said that I did not miss you. But that is only because I think that what I saw, it was yours.

Then again, you cannot miss anyone when you are not thinking, hm? So I did not miss anyone.

[Pentaps.] I see. Perhaps you could tell me what you thought of it, at some point.

I suppose not. Have you any notion of how long were you asleep?

The first thought, it is easy to say. It was nice to see a world that was not so Earther-like. But more, yes, it can wait.

No. The days, they go by.
