No, Panic at Hanging Rock is something *you* would write really well, not me. (Plus, uh, I still haven't seen it. I'm pretty sure I read the book years ago, but I downloaded the movie once and never got around to it, and I'm not sure if I still have the file around.)
Maybe you should take a stab at both! (No? It was worth a try, hee.)
Wow, that one with the guitar really is beautiful. And there is a Prohibition-era AU with lots of Greta! That one by Schuyler and...someone. Not a finished story, but I love it anyway.
I don't think I read that! Was it an old DYW not!fic? I'll go back and have a dig around for it.
But no fandom can have too many 20s-AU! I'd like to hold out hope that more people would write that. Imagine Greta as a torch singer, in a speakeasy. And all the bandom boys in bespoke suits, doing hushed deals in dark corners of underground clubs. And a hard-drinking, worn down private eye who falls in love with the wrong person during the course of his seedy investigations. *sighs*
Unfortunately true. And I'm a giant wooble who hates deathfic too, so I run against this some times. Um. With a sprawling cast you can have one happy ending amongst all the unhappy ones?
Once upon a time I had a giant WiP of a popslash 20s-AU, but I just couldn't bring myself to plot more once I realised I would have to kill Britney and make Lance the ultimate villain.

Om nom nom 20s AUs, you are so right. Except for how I'm a big softy and they tend to end unhappily.
