For those who obsess over shoes (me) I've found brand new soft leather upper, leather soled heels (2 1/2 to 3 inches) in sizes 5ish to 10ish, skipping a few in the middle for $6 or $7. Damn! That's within my (almost-nonexistent) budget, but I wouldn't be caught dead in heels as low as that! Not even for hillwalking. Well, all right, maybe for hillwalking, but they're not hiking boots :D

The best place I've found over the years for cheap-but-good leather footwear in every imaginable style (from stuffy casual to BDSM-outrageous) is, oddly enough, the main shopping drag in Footscray, I often score big there ($20-%35 for seriously decent shoes). The only downside is, with the sales, that I'm a 7 and so apparently is most of the rest of the known universe...
