You. You are not allowed to listen to Elliott Smith at 2:00 AM when you've had a fight with your lover and still have another hour's worth of Rousseau to read and haven't outlined your Plato essay or reworded your survey to be submitted to the sociology department tomorrow and have just been yelled at by your mother and can't find your copy of ( Read more... )

Yep, that's where I found you. :-P I am an English major at UIC. I'm a junior...for, like, one more semester.

You? Wait...you're at U of C, right?

Yes'm, I am. But no worries; every time I'm downtown (I've lived in Chicago - err, Hyde Park - for almost a month now and I'm still not sure where everything is) and I ask someone where a red line stop is they're all like, "Where are you going?" "University of Chicago" "Oh, you don't need to take the red line! You can walk there! It's just a few blocks away!" "No, University OF Chicago, NOT UIC" "Oh. Never heard of it."

Bah. You guys are much better-known than we. I want to get a UIC t-shirt to wear around our campus because this is something that everyone here bitches about. Irony would be neat.

So yeah, I'm a potential sociology concentrator at UC. For like, eleven more quarters now. Christ, when you lay it out like that it seems like a lifetime.

By the way, Amelie is an excellent movie.
