Bad Boy: a Memoir by Walter Dean Myers (audio)

Unabridged recording on one Playaway self-contained MP3 player, 5 hours. Read by Joe Morton. HarperChildren's Audio, 2005. 9781605145563. (Borrowed from the public library.)

I had been meaning to get to this memoir of one of my favoritest of favorite authors ever since it released. Somehow, I just never got to it. When I found that it was available as an audio on playaway, I submitted an ILL request STAT!

I'm sorry to write that I was disappointed. The sound quality of this playaway was truly dreadful. There were skips all over the place and the producers didn't even bother removing the Intro and Outre music that they used for the CD recording. This resulted in a choppiness that really detracted from the listening experience. Despite the fact that the narrator varied his pacing and volume and even chuckled a bit, I thought the narration lacked emotion. It felt more like a recitation. But that could have resulted from the sound quality because I warmed to the voice toward the end.

I really feel like I should reread the book with my eyes.
