OH, OH, PETE! Pete and Patrick! I hate, hate, hate the idea of these two ever not being BFF. And, oh, god, that it started there, with What a Catch... it hurts a lot. Between that and the "death of the emo swoop" I suppose I shouldn't have been so surprised, really. Oh, god, my heart. This hurts in all the right ways, and makes it better too.

I really love how you cut between the present and the past. Pete seems really hurt by Patrick and after the Reprise writing section it makes a lot more sense why Patrick does go out on his own. The ending is really sad because, at least for me, it's Pete finally coming to terms with the idea that the friendship he and Patrick had is never going to be what it once was. Lovely fic you've written and I really like how you write Pete's thoughts.
