Programming Submissions FAQ

What's on the second page of the submissions form?
The second page of the submission form (Step 2) asks for the name, fandom alias (if applicable), contact information, and a short biography of each presenter contributing to the proposal.

My abstract/bio/additional information has been cut off, why is it happening and what do I do?
If you are copying and pasting your proposal abstract, biography or additional information, the text may be truncated where there is use of quotation marks. To avoid this, one may replace a quotation mark (") with an asterisk (*).

After you have completed Step 2 of the submissions form, you have the chance to read over and confirm the information you have filled out is accurate and complete. Please read over your submission carefully. Should you find a mistake, or notice that something is incomplete, you may go back and change it.

Once you have submitted your proposal, you should receive a copy of the submission via e-mail. If, upon reading your submission, you discover that your submission is missing information, please contact us at formalprogramming@prophecy2007.org with the missing information and your name. If you have submitted more than one proposal, please specify the proposal to which you are referring.

If your proposal has been sent to us as incomplete, do not worry. You will be contacted and asked for the missing information. Every effort will be made to contact those who have submitted incomplete proposals in a timely fashion.

We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may cause.

What should be included in my abstract?
Your abstract should consist of a summary of your presentation or thesis, explaining what would be covered. If you are proposing a workshop or round table, describe what you plan to teach or discuss and how this would be implemented.

If my proposal is accepted, will I get the chance to make changes to my bio or other information before it goes into the programme?
Yes, if your proposal is accepted you will have the opportunity to make changes to your bio and/or presentation summary before that information will is published.

The submissions form asks for my real name, but I don't it published anywhere and would prefer to be credited by my fandom alias-- what should I do?
If you do not wish your real name to be published anywhere by us, please include your preferred name/fandom alias when you reach Step 2 where it says "Name to be used in the Programme if different from above (optional)". Under no circumstances will we publicly publish personal information of proposal submitters.

I would like to submit a proposal as a group, but we do not feel comfortable sharing and submitting our real names and contact information simultaneously-- what should we do?
If you are submitting a proposal as a group and do not wish to submit your real names and contact information simultaneously, please do the following:
1) Have one member of your group submit the proposal with their presenter details.
2) In the "additional information" section, please list the fandom aliases of all presenters participating, as well as a proposal title which you all have agreed upon.
3) Have each presenter individually e-mail formalprogramming@prophecy2007.org with her/his real name and contact information. Please put the proposal title in the subject heading, and include the fandom aliases of your fellow presenters in the e-mail.

When will I know if my proposal has been accepted or not?
All those who have submitted proposals will be informed of the vetting committee's decisions by March 15th.
