[It's raining. Hard. With thunder. It's 4:30AM. Where's Kanda? Why, the loud splash that sounds tells you exactly where he is. At the river. And he just stepped in part of the river

[Lavi doesn't stick around to see if it lands on the ground or not, he dimly hears Allen's voice and peers out the window. But between the rain and the still dark skies? Doesn't really see the white blob that is Allen. Though he might see the flash of red as Lavi goes back inside to sleep. And. He might get Kanda still on the other end of the PDA.]
[Misses that flash of red because he's scanning the skies for other falling projectiles of doom. Knowing his luck, this would turn out to be the first in a hailstorm of PDAs or something. When it doesn't look like anything else is out of the ordinary, he sits up, brushing glumly at the mud streaking his clothes, then turns the PDA over in his hands to check for some kind of identification...
[That's enough time for Allen to feel kind of bad about knocking (given enough time, he can be counted on to make himself feel bad about a fair number of things), knowing Lavi must be tired out from his daily mapping trips with Naoto. It doesn't change the fact that the PDA is important, though. He has a fist up, about to knock again when the door swings open, and narrowly avoids rapping on Lavi's nose instead.]
[ just as flatly, thrusting the PDA (rabbit doodle facing up!) in his friend's face with a muddied hand: ] This.
[Baw, don't feel too badly, Allen. If he had heard the feed he might have known why Allen chunked it out in the first place. It takes him a few minutes to even focus on the thing, aside from the mapping he's still working on that rough draft of what Allen wanted on the greeting pamphlets and the ones talking to Credintians about helping them from eons ago.
And of course the first thing he focuses on?] Your hands are dirty.
[Bit of a lengthy pause, focusing on the rabbit. It looked familiar. Kinda like his...wait. Threw that out the window.]
Don't want it, it's too loud. [Stumbling back to bed, forgetting even that his door is open.]
[Laviiii don't overwork yourself. They can handle the rough draft together, or just have Allen write it up himself! He's pretty sure it'll come along well enough as long as Kanda isn't involved.]
[ drily: ] I think they fared quite well, actually. [ ...when compared to the rest of him. Pauses at Lavi's second remark with this pulsing tic of a frown. ] Too loud? Is that why you... Oh, for chrissake.
[Follows him right in, paying the fact that he's leaving a trail of mud in his wake no heed, and claps the PDA down on the nearest flat surface by Lavi's bed. If that happens to be the floor, so be it.]
That's no reason to be throwing it out the window! What if I hadn't caught it?
herpderp why LAVI chunked it out the window*looseleafbookAugust 4 2011, 16:58:14 UTC
[He can't read your chicken scratch handwriting, and he thought Bookman's was bad. Kanda would most likely write 'You're stuck, sucks for you' on each of them and leave it at that.
Lavi didn't have a close-up at everything else, he only knows it's Allen because of his voice.] Don't want to hear Kanda at four.
[Crawling back into his bed with his eye closed though he jumps and his eye opens again as Allen claps the PDA down.]
Then I would've had quiet! [Covering his head with his arms, head turning away from Allen as he grumbles more about not getting enough sleep.]
[Hey, it's not that bad! ...Though he can't refute the second point, or blame Lavi too much for not wanting to hear Kanda's grumping at four.]
Quiet and a pile of parts. What if a play week comes up? [ not bothering to lower his voice, you big baby ] Just shove it under something or turn it off.
Then I'll stick with someone. Or get Mikk to fix it. [Getting up and getting his pillow from behind the door. Then it's back in bed again with it over his head.]
Yes. [Making shooing motions with his hand. He's alive. Tyki is alive. There was no gunfire or fist fight. Lavi heard his story and accepted it. However warily.]
[Were Allen less mindful of his body language, he might have shuffled his feet in guilt. Keeping Mikk's identity a secret from his friends hadn't sat well with him, but he understands Mikk's plight a little too well and didn't want to break his trust either. It's best to let the man decide who to tell, how to tell, and when to tell.
Going by Lavi's reaction, it appears to have been the right decision in the end.
A heartbeat or two of quiet later, Lavi will hear Allen moving closer despite the shooing motions, followed by a soft whumpf of his gloved palm hitting the pillow over his head, still exasperated but fond.]
I'm going, I'm going. Kanda said the river's flooding, so watch out for it if you're going mapping today.
[It hadn't really remained a secret long, within their second or third conversation they were setting up a meeting. The older man had known Lavi, called him Red, when he was sure that the other had never seen his face.

There's a thump at the door as Lavi throws his pillow yet again. Grumbling and griping.]
