I’m living in an age that calls darkness light.

Hi my lovelies. So first things first, and most obviously, my username has officially been changed. In honor of that, I changed my layout and put up a new header. I made the header myself, so if it blows, that's my fault.

I want to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I was intrigued from the moment I saw the TV ad that played the Arcade Fire's (LOVE them, btw) "My Body Is A Cage" over various scenes of the film. I have to admit, I wasn't aware that it was based on a Fitzgerald story. I was wondering if it was inspired by that "wouldn't life be great if we aged backwards, experienced our retirement young, etc" forward e-mail. Ha! :P I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed the movie for the most part... the plot sounds fascinating.

I didn't much care for Spiderman 3 either. The parts with Peter strutting down the street in his suit and dancing were just laughably bad. :P

Btw, awesome header/layout! :)

I hope you had a lovely Christmas! ♥

I hope you get to see the movie-- it was really great!

My irritation with Spider-man 3 is enhanced wildly by my obsessive love for Spidey for 23 years. And the fact that I'm insane helps.

Thank you re: the header/layout! I didn't make the layout, xaddictionsx did, but I'm kind of pleased with the header. I thought about adding text, but every time I did, it just looked cheesy. I may have hit the wall with my photoshopping skills.

My Christmas was laid back, quiet, but very nice. How was yours?

Ah yes, I know that you've been a Spidey girl for a very long time. :) I'm glad to know that even a hardcore fan like you thought the third film was poop.

I think the header looks great! I haven't made any icons or anything in what... two years? I'm not sure if I can even remember anything now.

My Christmas was good. :) I wrote a post about it in my LJ with more details, so you can check it out when you get a chance! I'm glad you had a nice Christmas! *hugs*

Poop, indeed. ;)

Re: the header-- aw, thanks! You were always so good w/ icons, I'm sure if you started again it'd be like riding a bike.

I just posted comments in your last 2 entries-- I wasn't online much circa Christmas, so I got a bit behind in my f-list. My holiday was very nice. It involved my favorite part of Christmas and/or any family gathering... FOOD. *hugs back*

Where are you from? I live in Buffalo, I'm a Sabres fan... I had no idea you followed hockey/liked the Sabres. The win over the Islanders was bullshit. They were up by 2 goals with 2 minutes left, and then they let the Islanders score two goals, tying it up with 2 seconds left in regulation? I mean, yeah, they won in a shootout, but there is NO way it should have come down to that. I don't think I've ever been so mad at the Sabres after a win.

I haven't read the short story yet, but I hear that in the movie there's some weird Katrina storyline. Is this true? Is it incongruous?

Well, once upon a time I was actually a Whalers fan, lol. ;) I moved to upstate NY in the late 80s, but I didn't become a Sabres fan until the early 90s (when I moved further west in NY-- Auburn). What was that network? Empire? Anyway, they played Sabres games constantly, so I started watching (as I really do love the sport). I became attached and that's that.

Now I live near Albany and I don't get to watch nearly as many Sabres games. >:[ People around here are usually Devils, Rangers or Islanders fans. About once every month and a half Versus has one on. I'm stuck listening to online streams when I can find one.

Re: the Katrina storyline... I don't think this spoils anything-- The story is framed by a much smaller story of a dying person in a hospital bed and their child. Katrina is beginning to brew outside. It's not super relevant, but it didn't put me off. I think the idea was to tie in the ideals of the movie to what had occurred in New Orleans-- possibly as a sort of healing process.

RE: Benjamin Button? THAT was my one complaint too! I don't know why the young actress' voice wasn't used! It was just odd to hear the voice over. And given how realistic everything else was? EVEN more disturbing!

RE: Spidey3? Yeah, I think I ranted quite a bit in my movie review LJ about that one myself. *barfs* Just appalling! (Did you ever read that one?)

Re: Cate Blanchett's morphed voice-- man, that really was the only thing that put me off. I have no idea why they did that.

Re: Piece of Poo-- I'll have to read your review. I can't remember if I did or not, will it be tagged? I'm sure I could find it by the date. It was appalling, I'm so glad you agree. :)

Eric Roth, the writer who won for adapting Forrest Gump for the screen, also adapted this from the Fitzgerald short story of the same name.
omg I KNEW there was something...it's HIM!!!!! damn, that man is made of WIN

Yes, he is totally made of win! A lot of reviews said that the movie was very similar to Forrest Gump (which I LOVE so that can't be that bad) or even TOO similar. I think it had some similar qualities, but I don't think it was that similar. I would never be able to confuse the two films.
