2011.11.23 - More Megasquirting

Nov 23, 2011 16:35

I went back to basics a bit with my tune today. Turned off accel enrichments, fuel overrun, ego enrichements, baro correction, and launch control. I reset the CLT-related air density to be coolant based "normal correction" and flattened the curve to 100% all the way across the range. I got the car up to operating temperature on the OBD2 computer ( Read more... )

Double Din Stereo's In NA's Question anonymous December 7 2011, 23:11:57 UTC
I know this is not the right place to post a reply to the thread that was going on ClubMiata regarding Double Din stereo mounts, but I am not a member and I was wondering where you got the black, square trim piece that goes around your double-din stereo you show in the photo of your post? I am undertaking a double-din stereo project in my Miata and I think that there is going to be a small gap between my factory dash bezel and radio that will need to be covered.

Thank you,
Justin

Hi, Justin. My car is a 1997, which happened to have a true double-DIN opening.

If you've got a 90-93 car, you can order one of the double-DIN radio bezels from Japan. These are an OEM part used on late model NA Miatas in Japan. ( Here is a thread showing one: http://www.clubroadster.net/vb_forum/showthread.php?p=262999 ) They used to be available through MiataRoadster.com, but I'm not sure if he still sells them or not.

If you've got a 94-96ish car then you can try to get one from a late production 96 or a 97 car.

If you don't want to change the whole bezel itself, a few places make adapters. The cleanest looking adapter (and the only one I would bother with) would be one from DDMWorks ( http://www.ddmworks.com/miata/interior/radio_surrounds.html ).

Thanks for the response! I have 1996 with a true double din dash bezel, but my question is where did you find the little black trim piece that goes around your radio and mounts to the bezel to hide any gaps between your radio and dash bezel?

Thanks again,
Justin

I see. My stereo came with it. Pretty much all new stereos should include a similar trim piece like this to hide the edges where it slides into the cage.
