My best haircuts come from barbers who are old-school. And usually this means men; women who are barbers seem to move on to something else before time settles them into a routine.

There were several in the park st / gov center area / washington street area which were always good for a consistent if not fancy trim. There's something comfortable about being able to walk into a barber shop (not a hairdressers! perish the thought!) and travel back in time with Bakelite, Bay rum and Brylcreem.
