have you noticed the new trend with spam is to backdate it? i mean, my mailbox will show 2 unread, so when i sort by unread, i see that messages dated 2002 will be sitting WAY back amongst my messages.

I use gmail, so I'm generally spared from seeing the headers (including the dates) at all.

I recall a blogger elsewhere noticing a lot of spammers doing the opposite, dating mail far into the future so that it also sits on top if you sort-by-date in the other direction.

The funny thing is that, under current email rules, it's hard to set dates before Jan 1 1970 or after Jan 18 2038, since those are the two ends of the Unix epoch, after which many computers' sense of time becomes screwy. So if you attract enough spam you'll see a lot of spammers playing at time travel from one or the other of those magic days.
