That actually seems to be one of the main criticisms of the film, which I think is inevitable considering its explosions and panic and dust clouds in NYC, but are we just never supposed to have a movie where something catastrophic happens there again? If Japan can do it, so can we.

While I certainly don't fetishize or advocate the NEED for gratuitous gore and blood, the movie could've used a little bit more of it. Some close-ups of the spider-parasites chomping on a few helpless victims, maybe seeing Marlena's death without the tent in the way...

Other than that, I was happy with the movie too. I'm looking forward to reading the manga to find out more about the history of the creature.
