The numbers:

This year I wrote and posted: 3 fics and 25 ficlets in 18 fandoms, one of which was a crossover. (I class anything as 1,000 words or more as a fic.) by fandom. compared to last year?.

I also wrote some original micro fiction: Just A Very High Number an OFC/OMC sci fi teen comedy ficlet and All is brightness an OC/OC fantasy? teen drabble and sub-100-word ficlets: one/three/five-sentence fic and other comment fic. AO3 gives my wordcount as 12,796, but it’s a little higher if you count the above. I think that's less than I thought it would be around summer. It’s less than last year, when I wrote more fics but in fewer fandoms.

The (selected) questions:

Least favourite fic of the year: ‘Strange Bedfellows’ it seems like a joke that didn’t come off now.

Most popular fic of 2019: By kudos and comments: Aftermath of a spoiler, but that’s because it’s MCU (Steve/Darcy) and was about Endgame spoiler anxiety, ‘The Timepiece’ (Sanditon, Sidney angst) for hits though.

Least popular fic of 2019: ‘Strange Bedfellows’. Fair enough.

Easiest story to write: Most of the ficlets (excepting drabbles etc where there’s counting anxiety!)

Hardest story to write: The four longest ones were all started in 2018, so ‘Neither Here Nor There’, ‘The Business of Walking’ ‘A Party is Serious Business’ and ‘3,000 Miles Away.’

The longest completed fic you wrote in 2019: Neither Here Nor There

The shortest completed fic you wrote in 2019: There were some one sentence snippets I posted to comment-fic.

Fandom you enjoyed writing for the most in 2019: I wrote more Gotham fics than any other fandom, and I enjoyed the interaction with new canon, and, as I’ve said before, the cracky gusto of said canon is freeing. Sky High returned as my comfort fandom (I can’t quit it!) with slightly more gen fics than Warren/Layla fics.

Favourite character to write about in 2019: Selina Kyle. I want her to be happy, but when she is not, that gives me material too.

A fic you didn't expect to write: The Great British Sewing Bee RPF/Harry Potter crossover or a modern day AU for Mary Poppins Returns, which is a film I held out from seeing for a while.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? The interaction between Natasha and Peter P in ‘Listen, Don’t Look.’ It totally came from the prompt, so it was surprising (although it shouldn’t have been) to get a response from shippers.

Number of fic(s) you completed in 2018: Most of the ficlets, so 24 (maybe).

Current number of WIPs: I'm not going to put a number on it, but there are some Gotham drafts from the summer I've returned to and a few other fics that I haven't abandoned.

Most memorable comment/review: The one that’s stuck in the memory is the reasonable critique of ‘This is not for you’, but I took this meme as an excuse to look over all the feedback I had this year, which was nice. I was reminded of being told that people had left ‘sad kudos’ for ‘The Timepiece’

Most fun story to write: Neither Here Nor There (the ‘Bruce, you really don’t want to get engaged to someone who isn’t Selina’ fic) or Never Say There Weren’t Leftovers (Dru and Darla hang out, and what that says about me, I don’t know).

Story with the sweetest moment: Probably I Love You in MPH, which is Neela’s POV of how carefully Ray is driving their new baby home from hospital.

Story with the single sexiest moment: The original fic ‘All is brightness’.

Saddest story: ‘The Timepiece’ is the angstiest, but ‘The Business of Walking’, which is more vicious, and ‘we had seasons in the sun’ (Dawn meets another universe’s Tara) aren’t far behind.

Most eye roll-worthy title: I refuse to roll my eyes at this year’s titles, although I admit I’m going to need more than the title to remember what some of them are about.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: I don’t think any did.

Story that is most at odds with my perceptions of the characters: ‘The Timepiece’ is more sympathetic to Sidney than I am overall. Also, ‘Strange Bedfellows’ to some extent.

Most Unintentionally Telling Story: Possibly ‘Never Say There Weren’t Leftovers’.

In conclusion: I met my goal of posting something each month, in the main because of ‘comment-fic’ where prompts give me ideas or hooks for ideas that I have anyway and the near-expectation that they’ll be ficlets lends confidence. No goals for 2020. There are WIPs I’d like to progress on and it would be lovely to complete and post a longer fic/fics, but I’m putting no pressure on myself.
